The Master’s in Knitwear Technologies at Istituto Secoli is designed to train a new generation of specialized designers and technicians, capable of combining aesthetic sensitivity, technological skills, and mastery of both artisanal and industrial production processes.
At the core of the program is knitwear in all its forms: explored starting from a deep understanding of yarn and stitch study, the training course offers participants the opportunity to acquire advanced knowledge and skills to design and develop fully-fashioned and cut-and-sew knitwear garments, for both women and men. Through an in-depth study of all technical and design specificities, from creative research to the realization of the finished product, students are guided towards the development of their personal knitwear collection, a practical synthesis of all the skills acquired.
The entire course is supported by a team of knitwear designers and technicians and enriched by specialized training days organized in collaboration with Shima Seiki, a world-leading company in the production of flat knitting machines and CAD systems for textile design.
Who is this course suitable for?
Aimed at young graduates in design-related fields (even those different from Fashion Design) or industry professionals who have already gained significant experience in product development, it is the ideal choice for those who intend to transform their creative vision into feasible and technologically advanced knitwear products. The course offers the necessary specialization to master the entire process – from yarn to flat knitting machine – and to position oneself as a strategic figure in a market segment that requires the perfect combination of artisanal techniques and technical and industrial expertise.
What are the career prospects?
The Master’s program prepares young professionals ready to enter specialized knitwear brands or fashion companies that produce knitwear collections, operating in the artisanal and/or industrial processing phases with the highest added value.
The course provides the knowledge and techniques necessary to work in any phase of designing women’s and men’s knitwear collections. The skills acquired allow graduates to fill key roles across the industry, particularly those related to the Style Office (such as Fashion Designer, Fashion Illustrator or Illustrator), the Product Office (Product Manager) and the Pattern Making Office (Pattern Maker).
Class Schedule
The course includes 1220 hours of classroom training.
Attendance is mandatory and full-time, with classes from Monday to Friday for a total of 27.5 hours per week.
The lessons will be delivered primarily in person, given the importance of laboratory activities in the curriculum, but with the support of various digital applications.
