Digital Innovation and Research at Istituto Secoli

At Istituto Secoli, innovation is the meeting point between traditional tailoring and digital transformation.

We don’t just teach technique; we train professionals ready for Industry 4.0, capable of integrating Artificial Intelligence, CAD pattern making, and 3D prototyping into fashion product design and development processes.

Thanks to agreements activated with software houses and technological partners, the Institute provides students of academic courses, at no additional cost, with licenses for the main professional software used in teaching activities:

  • Lectra Modaris Expert, for CAD pattern making and industrial product development;
  • CLO 3D, for virtual prototyping, material simulation, and 3D fit testing;
  • Raspberry AI, for creative research, concept development, and project visualization through generative artificial intelligence tools;
  • Lotta and VStitcher, made available through the collaboration with Crea Solution, for the design, simulation, and virtual validation of garments.

Digital tools, integrated into teaching and project development, constitute a tangible service to students and are made available to them also through personal licenses for use on their own devices, so as to complement work in technological laboratories with individual experimentation and the acquisition of professional skills that are immediately marketable in the industry.

PROJECTS & COLLABORATIONS

Technology at Istituto Secoli becomes a concrete experience: projects, partnerships, and experiments that directly involve students and connect teaching to the real processes of the fashion industry. These collaborations represent a tangible service to students: they allow them to apply the skills acquired, use professional technologies, and transform a teaching project into an experience of research, innovation, and entrepreneurial development.

ArchivIA with IBM
Generative Artificial Intelligence applied to creative research and the enhancement of archives: historical heritage becomes a dynamic tool for developing new concepts.

Raspberry AI
The platform is progressively integrated into the Fashion Design path to support visual research, ideation, and project development, complementing student experimentation with faculty training.

Studio Secoli
StudioSecoli is born from the collaboration with the technological startup NextCouture, which connects creativity, digital personalization, and market access. The creations of Patricia Gorbatovschi and Ludovica Farina were selected to be presented on the international platform.

DA/TE — CFMI Academy 2026
The project developed by Secoli students Riccardo Spreafico, Valentina Greco, and Michele Maggi proposes pre-cut kits, workshops, and a dedicated community to make garment creation more accessible. Selected among the six projects of the CFMI Academy 2026, it received a special recognition from CFMI and UniCredit for the development of the entrepreneurial idea.

Proke, Stratasys and WeWear
From remote measurement taking to 3D body scanning and 3D printing on fabrics and accessories: students experiment with new technologies for fitting, digital retail, and product development.

The Institute explores the frontiers of additive manufacturing thanks to Stratasys technologies.

Students learn to use 3D printing directly on fabric and accessories, experimenting with new textures and three-dimensional geometries that redefine the boundaries of design and product development.

Digital Bespoke and Remote Fitting: Proke Project

Thanks to Proke App, students discover how to revolutionize bespoke tailoring through an app that captures body measurements from a smartphone in just 3 minutes

This technology enables the design and production of bespoke garments even remotely, concretely integrating tech and creativity into the design process, as demonstrated by the projects of our Designers to Watch.

ai IBM

Generative AI and Creative Research: ArchivIA Project

Developed in collaboration with IBM, the ArchivIA project applies Generative Artificial Intelligence to the ideation phase.

The system assists students in expanding concepts and allows semantic querying of an archive resource database, transforming historical heritage into a dynamic platform for assisted inspiration.

Body Scanning and Retail 4.0: WeWear (Prismatec Group)

Thanks to the partnership with WeWear and the Prismatec group, we introduce students to 3D body scanning technologies.

The digitalization of biometric data enables the application of Italian tailoring precision to new digital business models, ensuring impeccable fitting for e-commerce and retail 4.0.

CLO 3D

The Institute integrates CLO3D software, a leader in 3D simulation, into its programs. Students master photorealistic virtual prototyping, learning to simulate garment draping and fitting in real time, drastically reducing sampling costs and environmental impact.

Lectra MG 8230

LECTRA

Thanks to the collaboration with Lectra, students acquire skills in the most advanced industrial CAD systems.

The training focuses on the precision of digital pattern making and the optimization of cutting and marker-making processes, preparing professionals to manage the workflows of major luxury companies.

MACPI

The long-standing collaboration with Macpi allows students to engage with the most advanced technologies for garment industrialization.

Through the use of machinery for bonding (heat sealing), laser cutting, and industrial pressing, future professionals learn to create seamless products and high-precision technical finishes, eliminating traditional seams and experimenting with new frontiers of functional and performance design.
