Designer to Watch with the “Performing a ritual” collection

The menswear collection by Gabriele Fabris finds its genesis in the film “The Color of Pomegranates” by Armenian director Sergei Parajanov. The work is characterized by an immersive atmosphere, visual richness, and extraordinary colors. The scenes are steeped in tradition and symbolism; the gestures, performed with liturgy and solemnity, possess a sacred nature.

The designer’s interest was based on the holistic echo of the images: in the film’s narrative, a ritualistic performance seems to pervade the dimension of everyday life. The multiple roles played by actress Sofiko Chiaureli as both man and woman allowed for the merging of both stylistic characters into a men’s sartorial collection where some garments were crafted entirely by hand.
