On December 10, 2016, at Istituto Secoli Guangzhou 广州分院, the following courses will be presented: WOMEN’S FASHION DESIGN SPECIALIST COURSE and WOMEN’S PATTERNMAKING SPECIALIST COURSE, which will start on February 18, 2017.

These are Specialist Courses that take a monothematic approach compared to academic courses and aim to bridge specific educational gaps.

The Fashion Design course aims to impart technical skills in fashion figure illustration and basic concepts for constructing outfits according to fashion trends. Learning and careful analysis of the human figure, proportions, and color techniques form the foundation of the educational path. The study of garments, fabric movement, and different methods of representation ensures that creative ideas can be translated into a feasible garment.

Women’s patternmaking—base design—is a course designed for those who are already professional patternmakers or tailors within the fashion world and are interested in learning the Secoli method for constructing women’s pattern bases.

The patternmaker is the figure within a company who interprets and “puts on paper” the designer’s ideas, translating a graphic mark into a project (the pattern) ready to be transferred to fabric. It is the heart of the design process that leads to the creation of a collection, and the skill of Italian patternmakers is one of the fundamental ingredients for Italian leadership in the fashion field.
