It has been an intense week for the students of Istituto Secoli, enriched by a meeting with Dr. Ornella Bignami, recognized as one of the leading experts in yarns and fabrics, as well as a member of prestigious international Trend Committees and the soul of Elementi Moda, a research company focused on the evolution of lifestyles and consumer trends, active in the textile, fashion, and design industries, among others.
On Tuesday, November 25, Dr. Bignami held a seminar on the innovative characteristics of “European flax“: from cultivation techniques to the many fields in which it can be utilized.
From clothing to bicycle frames, and even certain construction elements in building, the field of application for this extraordinary fiber is surprisingly wide, simultaneously meeting the new demands of consumers who are increasingly attentive to the environment and eco-sustainability.
Our students, interested in the topic and captivated by the speaker’s passion and expertise, had the opportunity to see prototypes of alternative uses for flax, such as tiles and glasses, as well as several fabric samples made with this fiber, learning about the different production processes.
We warmly thank Dr. Ornella Bignami for her availability and for sharing her knowledge and professional experience with our students!
