The 40th edition of the Secoli Fashion Show was held on June 8, 2023, at the Talent Garden in via Calabiana, Milan. Students reaching the end of their three-year course of study brought their creations to the runway before an audience eager to celebrate this significant milestone. Alongside the Institute and the students were Regione Lombardia, which contributed to the realization of the initiative, the Municipality of Milan, and the most prominent associations in the fashion sector: Antia, Camera Nazionale della Moda, IACDE, Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda, Sistema Moda Italia.

“I would like to thank Istituto Secoli, which for nearly 90 years has been committed to training fashion professionals, a leading sector for the city of Milan and the Lombardy region. Approximately 4,000 designers have showcased their work at the Secoli Fashion Show, a runway event supported by Regione Lombardia through the Demo grant. Congratulations on the results achieved. The word most commonly associated with the fashion world is ‘creativity,’ which is undoubtedly a key element for success in this field, but it must go hand in hand with study, commitment, craftsmanship, tradition and, today, also with digital technologies. This is what our fashion schools do, with top-tier teachers and many students who dream of seeing their garments on the runway or in the shop windows of Montenapoleone. They too, and not just the established great designers, are the primary ambassadors of Made in Italy, as they have the responsibility to continue transmitting it, keeping it alive, and renewing it, with one eye on the past and one on the future .” This was the comment from Barbara Mazzali, Councilor for Tourism, Territorial Marketing, Fashion, and Major Events of the Lombardy Region.

To mark the 40th edition, the event format was enriched with several contributions: at the entrance, guests were welcomed with a gift, a printed organic cotton t-shirt featuring a graphic subject representing one of the various cultural eras from the 1980s to the present day, created by second-year students.

Before taking their seats along the runway, guests then passed through an immersive and emotional journey through the history of the Secoli Fashion Show: musical video installations recounting the fashion shows held from 1984 to 2022.

Upon arriving in the hall, before the physical runway show, another surprise welcomed guests and catapulted them into the reality of new technologies: the virtual fashion show “4 DECADES OF SECOLI FASHION SHOW” featuring 5 selected outfits from models who walked in the 1985, 1996, 2010, 2016, and 2022 editions, summarizing the evolution of fashion from the 80s to today.

Opening the physical runway show were the collections of the ‘Designer To Watch’ project, featuring emerging talent alumni from the fashion scene Margherita Aureli, sisters Anna and Silvia Cristofolini, Gabriele Fabris, and Giovanni Fotia.

This was followed by the Secoli Fashion Show 2023, inspired by the concept WHERE HERE – ‘What you create depends on what you see’.

And finally, many students who, thanks to the commitment shown throughout their training, received important awards from partner companies at the closing:
