Istituto Secoli is opening a new branch in Novara, in partnership with local fashion brands. A school of excellence dedicated to training prototype makers, with the aim of meeting the growing demand for technical figures within fashion brands, where the role of the prototype maker is currently among the most sought after.
The companies participating in the project are: Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Herno, IN. CO Spa, Versace, and Zamasport.
The Institute and the brands collaborate actively to provide “tailor-made and situated” training where the Secoli Method interprets the professional needs of the companies’ prototyping departments, materializing them within a course of study that faithfully recreates the local working environment, fostering the growth of a shared professional culture and integrating the methodologies and experience of the Secoli team with the professional skills of prototype makers from the companies themselves. The program concludes by opening the doors of the brands’ prototyping departments to students and initiating an internship.
The new headquarters will be located in the former Officine Grafiche De Agostini spaces, a new contemporary district where commercial, residential, and educational spaces will coexist: over 450 square meters dedicated to the study and practice of prototyping, with classrooms/laboratories that reproduce a real prototyping department in terms of technology and organizational model; latest-generation tools and technologies will support the students’ applied learning.
Starting from October 2022, young graduates will be able to attend the new high-specialization course “Fashion Product Prototyping”. The training path starts with the study of the pattern, raw materials, and fabrics, focuses on the practice of cutting techniques and methodologies, ironing, industrial and sartorial garment construction, draping, and garment fitting, and addresses the criteria and methodologies for product industrialization, as well as quality control.
