The collection by Italian designer Greta Moroni was selected for the final of the first edition of the International Ecologic Fashion Design Contest, the first Chinese competition dedicated to environmental respect. A jury of fashion industry experts presented awards to the best designers from around the world on December 12, 2017, in Shenzhen. Greta Moroni was the only Italian designer selected and was awarded the Ecologic Concept Prize along with a scholarship. The event is organized by the Shenzhen Economic Trade & Information Technology Committee and the Shenzhen Garment Industry Association.
The theme of the competition is Awakening-Original, Green, Healthy, and it aims to establish a new concept of fashion culture, spreading the value of ecological fashion while increasing awareness and social responsibility on this important issue. The Ecologic Fashion Design Contest was launched last March during Shenzhen Fashion Week.
Greta Moroni is a young 23-year-old Italian designer, born in Milan in 1993 and a student at Istituto Secoli in Milan. Moroni created the S/S 2018 women’s collection titled Utopia for a positive world. The garments are the translation of an achievable utopia: it is possible to live in a better place and spread positive messages. The collection, which is extremely versatile, embraces a philosophy of life attentive to nature and invites deep reflection on global pollution. The palette plays with black and white tones, featuring extensive research into materials and a focus on eco-sustainability: organic cotton, hemp, linen, and Newlife yarn produced 100% from recycled plastic bottles. Handmade embroidery and vibrant, bold all-over lettering enrich the creations.
