Do you want to enter the world of fashion, but you’re not sure if it’s the right path for you?
Fashion Basics is much more than an introductory course: it is a true testing ground for the future, designed for those considering a career in fashion and wishing to do so with awareness. In two high-intensity training weeks, the program opens the doors to the Secoli Method, offering a structured and comprehensive view of the creative process. Students are immediately immersed in practice, tackling the three fundamental pillars of fashion making. It begins with Fashion Design, learning to translate an idea into a fashion sketch through figure study and fabric rendering; it moves on to Patternmaking, where the geometric foundations for constructing skirts and trousers are acquired; finally, it reaches Garment Assembly, physically creating the designed garments. It is an experience that simulates the university path, allowing students to understand what it really means to study fashion in a context of excellence.
Who is this course suitable for?
This path was specifically designed for high school students and recent graduates who are at a delicate decision-making stage and wish to orient themselves toward university-level fashion studies. It is the ideal choice for those who feel the passion but seek practical confirmation of their aptitudes, allowing them to test firsthand whether the rigor and creativity required by the industry align with their expectations. The course is also open to those coming from different educational backgrounds who wish to acquire the essential technical foundations to understand the dynamics of the fashion system and the Institute’s working method.
What are the career prospects?
Rather than aiming for immediate employment, Fashion Basics is an accelerator of awareness. Its main value lies in vocational guidance: it provides the critical tools to confidently choose one’s three-year academic path, avoiding missteps. The basic skills acquired (from technical drawing to using a sewing machine) nonetheless constitute a solid competitive advantage for those who decide to enroll in degree courses at Istituto Secoli or other academies, allowing them to start their higher education with a head start and a clear vision of the supply chain.
