OCTOBER 28 marked the official launch date of the ‘GLOCAL – MILAN MEETS GUADALAJARA’ capsule collection, created as part of a pilot project involving Istituto Secoli alongside the University of Guadalajara and promoted by a partnership also consisting of the Municipality of Milan, the Government of Jalisco, the Municipality of Guadalajara, Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda, IDB (Inter-American Development Bank), and the Council for the Promotion of Innovation and Design of Guadalajara.
An initiative aimed at creating an important synergy between the expertise of the Italian industry and the richness of the local folklore of the Mexican city through collaboration in the genesis and development of a joint transcultural fashion collection.
Milan and Guadalajara and their territorial systems, thanks to the commitment and work of four young fashion designers, had the opportunity to compare and interact through an exchange of skills and sustainable practices in the fashion field. Representing Milan were two students from Istituto Secoli, Chiara Salviato and Ludovica Rossi; representing the Mexican metropolis were two chosen students from the University of Guadalajara, Griselda Mendoza and Joselyn De Maria Gonzalez.
The ‘GLOCAL – MILAN MEETS GUADALAJARA’ capsule is a collection in which the aesthetics of Mexican popular culture merge with the dynamism of current reality. Two worlds meeting: different materials blend for a proposal that expresses, through artisanal fabrics in bright tones, the magic of the mysticism of the peoples of the South American city and, through technical fabrics, the futuristic conception of the European city that is the undisputed capital of the fashion system.
The next stage, after the extraordinary Italian debut, will be at the end of November in Mexico with a fashion show at the Andares exhibition space in Guadalajara.
