The Master’s courses in Patternmaking are the latest generation of programs designed by Istituto Secoli: the fourth edition of the Master’s in Women’s Patternmaking will launch in October 2013, building on the educational success, the great interest from participants, and the high employment rate observed in the first three editions.

We designed the Master’s programs to meet the fashion world’s demand for excellence in patternmaking training.

The feedback has been so positive from all stakeholders (the Institute’s scientific committee, clothing industry companies, and the young Fashion Design graduates to whom the Master’s is addressed) that the initial path (the “Master’s in Women’s Patternmaking”) has been joined by the “Master’s in Men’s Patternmaking” (the first edition started in October 2012) and the “Master’s in Lingerie and Bridal Patternmaking” (the first edition will start in October 2013).

The objective is very clear: to create educational paths for young fashion design graduates who wish to complete their preparation in the field of technical garment design (patternmaking and tailoring) in order to pursue those professions (patternmaker or tailor) or to acquire the skills necessary to fully express their creativity. The secret of this educational success remains the same: designing new Master’s programs by drawing extensively on the training modules we have refined and improved over our 80-year history, keeping our roots firmly established.

Naturally, like all our patternmaking courses, the Master’s programs fully express the philosophy and history of Istituto Secoli, where since 1934 we have passionately trained, updated, and specialized generations of patternmakers and tailors who have helped build the uniqueness of ‘Made in Italy’ within the global fashion landscape.
