“Rosa Genoni (1867-1954): a woman conquering the 20th century” is the title of the exhibition opening on January 13 at the State Archives of Milan, organized in partnership with the Associazione Amici di Rosa Genoni and in collaboration with the Fondazione Anna Kuliscioff, Società Umanitaria, and Associazione Culturale Profumo di Milano. This unique exhibition will feature Istituto Secoli as a key participant, showcasing several outfits created exclusively for the event. Curated by Elisabetta Invernici and Associazione Profumo di Milano, the exhibition highlights the commitment of Italian designer Rosa Genoni to fashion and teaching for women’s empowerment. Specifically, two Istituto Secoli garments will be on display: the first inspired by the Winged Victory of Samothrace and the second by the Egyptian Kalasiris, both created from the patterns and descriptions in Rosa Genoni’s book “Per una moda italiana: modelli, saggi, schizzi di abbigliamento femminile, 1906-1909”. The garments were researched and hand-sewn by Rebecca Formenti, a student of the Master in Lingerie and Bridal Wear at Istituto Secoli in Milan.
