ISTITUTO SECOLI ON DISPLAY AT:

“THE WHITE CLUB” – JUNE 23, 24, 25, 2012 –

THE ART OF MAKING

The White Club opens its doors to the city of Milan with an exhibition path showcasing the most significant milestones of its history and that culture of making which fuels and regenerates the Made in Italy heritage in a contemporary key.

The stars of the 10. REUSED area are the garments from the 29th edition of the Secoli Fashion Show – RE FASHION –. They are characterized by high-quality, unusual, and exclusive materials such as small hardware and metal washers; 1920s-style looks embellished with shimmering sequins, plastic petals with fluorescent reflections, and ropes salvaged from military belts. The work carried out to create these garments while maintaining the concept of recycling is immense and meticulous.

10.REUSED

A new design concept is the starting point for RE FASHION, the project presented by the young students of Istituto Secoli at the former Ansaldo for THE WHITE CLUB.

Erica Moroni and Luca Colosimo for the theme:

Diaphanes

Futuristic flowers bloom on the runway: plastic, with its dual nature of opacity and “glass-effect” transparency,

integrates and completes the fabric. The result is pure white corolla dresses accented with fluorescent touches.

Fabiana Brucco and Elenia Carreri for the theme:

Cosmic Debris

Simple materials like bolts, pins, iridescent paper, and hair clips merge to create unique and precious metallic encrustations that fall onto the garments like cosmic rain.

Miyoung Seol, Anastasia Crippa, and Antonio Pizzino for the theme:

Flapstik

Myriads of playful sequins made from multicolored plastic bottles cover 1920s-inspired garments. Thus, Flapstik is born from the combination of plastic and the fabulous “flappers” of the 1920s.

Jinhong Park for the theme:

Fragments Shapes

Mosaic details complete the men’s look for Summer 2013. Processed textile waste creates surprising 100% post-consumer inserts.

Mariachiara Mandas, Gianmarco Caminati, and Elena De Maio for the theme:

Free Fall

Ropes recycled from old military belts and discarded ribbons create armor-like effects, contrasting with an airy look defined by parachute volumes and fluid fabrics.
