May 25, 2013 – Milan, Palazzo Isimbardi.

It has been a regular fixture in the academic year at Istituto Secoli for over 40 years, yet the Graduation Ceremony never fails to move not only the new graduates and the families present, but also the faculty and the entire Secoli staff—a sign that everyone is aware of the importance and value of the work accomplished.

But let us proceed in order: after a brief introduction by President Stefano Secoli, Dr. Bruno Daipei, President of the Provincial Council of Milan, acting as “host,” welcomed everyone, expressing his pleasure in opening the doors of Palazzo Isimbardi, the headquarters of the Province, to an institution as important to the region and to education as Istituto Secoli.

It was then the turn of Prof. Danilo Migliorini, Chief Operating Officer of Istituto Secoli. Preceded by a moving video about life aboard a sailing ship—a metaphor for life within a company and the spirit of cooperation that underlies every maneuver—he introduced the young graduates to teamwork, an essential strategy for achieving any corporate objective in a socio-economic climate as changeable and turbulent as the current one.

Dr. Antonio Sgroi, representing Lectra, a leading company in the production of software and hardware for the apparel industry, and ANTIA (National Association of Fashion System Technical Professionals), confirmed the ongoing partnership between Istituto Secoli, Lectra, and ANTIA. He presented the latest generation of CAD design software for clothing and the continuous initiatives organized by ANTIA for the professional development of industry experts. In this regard, the next events will be the days dedicated to garment fitting and defect correction, which will take place at Istituto Secoli.

The ceremony concluded with a message from President Stefano Secoli who, linking back to the metaphor of the sailing ship and teamwork, urged the new graduates to face the professional world with the strength and optimism of those who know they are part of a great “family.” He reminded them that for nearly 80 years, this name has been synonymous with expertise and professionalism in the clothing world, and they will therefore have the responsibility to uphold and enhance it through their work, just as tens of thousands of their predecessors have done, always striving to “team up” and never forgetting their “roots.”
