The course in Menswear Tailoring Techniques celebrates the architecture of men’s clothing, an art defined by geometric rigor and internal structure. Unlike womenswear modeling, menswear tailoring requires almost engineering-like precision, where every stitch serves a structural as well as an aesthetic function. In this intensive workshop, the educational focus is entirely dedicated to the creation of a tailored waistcoat, an iconic garment that encapsulates all the complexities of masculine construction. Through 25 hours of guided practice, participants will learn the secrets of internal craftsmanship — from the use of silesia to lining management — and will practice constructing complex details such as welt pockets and back straps. Great attention is reserved for traditional manual skills: students will learn to masterfully execute fundamental stitches (pick stitch, buttonhole stitch, tailor’s tacks), reclaiming that ancient “know-how” that distinguishes an industrial garment from a piece of haute couture.
Who is this course suitable for?
This program is intended for those who wish to discover or refine the golden rules of menswear tailoring. It is ideal for fashion design students who want to give structural solidity to their projects, as well as for tailors and professionals wishing to specialize in traditional construction, which is often overlooked by fast-paced industrial training. The course is also open to enthusiasts with basic sewing skills who want to challenge their precision and learn the constructive logic behind a formal garment, understanding that in menswear, internal cleanliness is as important as the external appearance.
What are the career prospects?
Mastery in menswear tailoring is a rare and precious skill in the current luxury landscape, where the return to bespoke and made-to-measure is a consolidated trend. The skills acquired in this program allow for an authoritative entry into tailoring workshops, haute couture ateliers, and product offices of high-end menswear brands. For a designer, understanding these logics means being able to design credible menswear collections; for a technician or a tailor, it means possessing the keys to a manufacturing tradition that represents the excellence of Made in Italy worldwide.
