Secoli Talents for Fashion Graduate Italia 2017

Istituto Secoli will participate in Fashion Graduate Italia 2017 from November 5 to 7, 2017, with a dedicated stand in the former Ansaldo post-industrial complex in Milan. On November 7 at 4:00 PM, six designers from Istituto Secoli will showcase their work: Antonio Palmiero, Filippo Todisco, Greta Moroni, Irene Incontri, Seungchae Yo, and Federica Zaletti. Three days in which the best fashion schools open up to the city to showcase their excellence, and the public can participate in many free scheduled initiatives.

Antonio Palmiero is an Italian designer born in Caserta in 1995; he lives and works in Lodi. Palmiero presents the F/W 2017-18 women’s collection Scars. The garments in the capsule, with recurring motifs of cracks and scars, are the representation of inner pain. Dark fabrics are paired with pinstripes, red faux leather, patterned, and printed fabrics. The imagery draws from the underground and street worlds with shapes and volumes reminiscent of the 80s. A collection designed for a young, independent, and hyper-feminine woman.

Greta Moroni is a young Italian designer, born in Milan in 1993. Moroni presents the S/S 2018 women’s collection titled Utopia for a positive world. The garments are the translation of an achievable utopia: it is possible to live in a better place and spread positive messages. The collection, which is extremely versatile, embraces a philosophy of life attentive to nature and invites deep reflection on global pollution. The palette plays with tones of white and black, with extensive research into materials and a focus on eco-sustainability: organic cotton, hemp, linen, and Newlife yarn produced 100% from recycled plastic bottles. Finally, handmade embroidery and all-over lettering enrich the creations. The collection was selected for the final of the first edition of the International Ecologic Fashion Design Contest, the first Chinese competition dedicated to environmental respect.

Federica Zaletti is an Italian designer, born in Crema in 1995. With Para-Normal, she dresses a sophisticated and contemporary woman who loves to play with transparencies and layering. White, black, and blue fabrics create layers; they are soft and enveloping, with a construction that intentionally gives the feeling of an “undefined” garment. Contemporary artist Akihito Takuma is felt to be closest to the conceptual world the designer wishes to express, and some of the Japanese artist’s works have been printed on the fabrics for this capsule collection. The designer recently distinguished herself by receiving a scholarship from ANTIA.

Filippo Todisco is an Italian designer, born in Monza in 1993, who lives in Milan. Todisco presents Pancitopenia, a high-impact F/W 2018-19 men’s collection named after a rare blood disease. His creations are intended as a hymn to life despite adversity. Pain and illness should not be experienced as exclusively negative events; they can often give life greater value and enhance its strength and beauty. The predominant colors of the capsule are white, flesh-tone, black, and red. Selected fabrics include cotton gabardine, leather nappa, and cotton poplin with contrast detailing. The oversize and asymmetrical outerwear pieces are deconstructed and reassembled with visible stitching—a clear analogy to scars on the body—or treated with bleaching.

Seungchae Yu presents the F/W 2018-19 men’s collection New Classical Disco, a tribute to disco fashion from the 70s and 80s. The Korean designer offers a collection with comfortable, fluid garments and a palette ranging from browns to greens and reds. Essential to the looks are the wide outerwear pieces with pointed collars and flared trousers. Outfits with a classic yet refined flavor, where vintage coexists with a contemporary mood.

Irene Incontri is an Italian designer, born in Monza in 1995; she lives and works in Olgiate Molgora (Lecco). The S/S 2018 women’s collection titled Re-Arrange is based on the conceptual idea of enhancing cracks and wounds within a creation, from which a superior idea of beauty can be reborn. The main source of inspiration is the “Grande Cretto” by the informal Italian artist Alberto Burri, a Land Art work created in memory of the 1968 earthquake that devastated the Sicilian city of Gibellina. White, black, and beige with brief accents of red are the predominant colors. Asymmetrical shapes, visible stitching, and transparencies, along with laser cuts and technical fabrics, are part of this collection’s DNA.
