Alberto Monti with the “YOROI” collection at the Mittelmoda Fashion Award 2013

Mittelmoda returns with a completely renewed edition. The famous international competition for emerging fashion talent gets a new look and celebrates in the world capital of Prêt-à-Porter, Milan!

Alberto Monti, a student at Istituto Secoli, is among those selected for the Kaledo Style By Lectra section.

A collection with a transgressive look for a modern, dynamic, and determined woman. Geometric lines that give life to garments with vertical cuts; three-dimensional plays of pleats that elongate and shape the silhouette—these are the characteristics of  YOROI. Sharp, bold colors define the light passing through the velvets and the red jersey headpieces, which are crocheted; the footwear “flatforms” are inspired by the Eastern world and provide an exclusive ‘made in Japan’ touch.

YOROI F/W 2014/15

The main inspirations for this collection are Catholic

costumes, Joan of Arc iconography, and Japanese

traditional clothing and origami.

Contrasts between colors (mainly black and gray) and

fabrics (soft and luxurious velvet, wools, and simple cotton

poplin and twill) are the fil rouge of the collection,

carried as well by the armor-like pleated panels and

simple silhouettes.

Pleating is used to join the pattern pieces into a

strong-looking garment, a modern armor, softer than

it looks.

Tailoring is extremely important to match all the pleats

and cuts and keep all the outfits very sharp and graphic.
