The annual Women’s Lingerie Pattern Making course at Istituto Secoli is designed for those who wish to specialize in pattern making and prototyping of women’s underwear, delving into the technical design and creation of the main lingerie and beachwear items. It is aimed at students with a good foundation in pattern making and garment construction, as well as industry professionals who want to enhance their technical skills and advance in their career path, acquiring a specialization that is highly sought after in the market.
The course is structured into three educational modules that progressively cover panties and bras, bodysuits, and swimwear, with the option to attend the first module individually.
Through the application of the Secoli Method, the course guides students in the geometric construction of patterns, pattern-making transformations to create personalized variations, and size grading. Special attention is given to the study of materials typical of lingerie — such as stretch fabrics, lace, and tubular knits — and to fit, a key element in ensuring comfort, quality, and performance of the garment.
During practical prototyping activities, participants learn to lay out, cut, and construct patterns using industrial machinery, recognizing the main stitches and techniques used in the industry.
Who is this course suitable for?
The course is aimed at students with strong pattern-making skills and fashion industry professionals who wish to update and deepen their technical expertise, specializing in pattern making and construction of women’s lingerie.
What are the career prospects?
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to develop their career in the technical design phases of a women’s lingerie collection, working in all professions related to the Pattern Making Department (Pattern Maker) and Prototyping (Prototype Tailor), either as freelance professionals or in industrial, service, or artisanal companies.
Class Schedule
The course includes 360 hours of lessons.
Attendance is mandatory with classes every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 12:45 PM to 3:45 PM, for a total of 6 hours per week.
The lessons will be delivered primarily in person, given the importance of laboratory activities in the curriculum, but with the support of various digital applications.
