The traditional collaboration between Istituto Secoli and Asahi Kasei Fibers Italia, a world-leading Japanese company in textile fiber production, has been renewed.
On Tuesday, May 20, Mr. Yasuyoshi Nakajima, President of Asahi Kasei Fibers Italia, accompanied by Dr. Gianni Stefano Coda Zabetta, Head of Marketing and Communications, and Mr. Koji Hamada, Sales and Development Manager, visited the Institute. They presented the reality of Asahi Kasei Fibers Italia and Cupro yarn—the company’s flagship product—to our first-year academic students.
Following the screening of an introductory video about the Japanese multinational, Dr. Coda described the characteristics and qualities of Cupro yarn to the students. He explained the complexities of a production process that results in a yarn possessing both the best properties of cotton (such as fineness and breathability) and the “flexibility” of polyester fibers. All industrial processes for Cupro yarn production are carried out with absolute respect for nature, hence the slogan “a touch of nature.”
Since 1931, Cupro yarn has been produced exclusively by Asahi Kasei Fibers.
Knowing he was addressing an audience of fashion talents, Dr. Coda then explained that Cupro yarn is currently used by fashion companies primarily for high-quality garment linings. However, he noted that this type of yarn is suitable for many other types of garments, from lingerie to outerwear. He invited the students not to limit their imagination and to be “bold” in exploring new ways to use this special product.
This year, Asahi Kasei Fibers Italia will once again support the creation of an entire collection for the Secoli Fashion Show by providing the Cupro yarn fabrics for its construction.
We thank Asahi Kasei Fibers Italia for the support they provide to our students every year, demonstrating their belief in Istituto Secoli’s educational project and their commitment to investing in young people!
